Bridge climbing...

Tamsin and I were given by our loving husbands tickets to climb the Story bridge for Christmas. This fact was laughed at by the rest of the crew on the climb that day because they wondered if our husbands had in mind to get rid of us?!? No idea what they were talking about!!
Anyway we weren't scared at all...actually we were having a good ole chat up the steep bits and even bemoaned the fact the leader kept talking through the ear piece at us!
Not at all, we learned some amazing facts about the bridge...like it was only built back in the 1930's to generate income, and that the north side crew were given beer at lunch time every day but as soon as they met in the middle the brewery stop supplying!! Then when the bridge finally opened they put a toll on it - about the cost of a loaf of bread. Of course this upset the locals (the rich ones - as they were the only ones with cars) who used the Victoria bridge instead. Sadly it took the Government 7 years to realise this! Anyway just a bit of Trivia.
We could see as far as The Glass house mountains and Mt Barney. Gave me a great perspective of our city of Brisbane and made me stop for a moment and consider it's history and it's beauty. Have to do Sydney next!
